Baboon Island
Baboon Island is part of the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project. This project was founded in 1979 because the habitat of the chimpanzees was rapidly disappearing. Currently, the island is inhabited by more than 100 chimpanzees and other ape species. Many of the chimpanzees enjoy their extra meal in peace along the shores of the island. Tendaba National Park
Tendaba Camp is a locally owned eco-tourism camp in Gambia that’s open all year round and is a popular destination for birdwatchers. Originally built in the 1970s as a hunting lodge, it’s located in the Kiang Central district, about 150 km upriver from Banjul, and can be reached by boat or by road.
